I hear you! After I had my son, I dropped the baby weight + an additional 15lbs and felt great. Then I had gall bladder surgery and gained 20lbs in NO time at all:( My doctor told me that when the gallbladder is removed, it makes your metabolism a little slower so that might be why you gained quickly.
Good luck!0 -
i had my gall bladder removed too and it does get better with time. try to steer clear of fried foods and for some reason eating out would trigger diarrhea for me. go for low carbs...nothing should be over 15 carbs...you can have 3 carbs per meal as long as each one is 15 or under. i lost 50 lbs and feel great to be at my goal weight. i haven't been logging my food for the last month though and i feel like i'm nibbling a little too much so starting tomorrow, i'm back too!!0

I honestly, don't know if getting your gallbladder removed effects your metabolic rate. In fact, i can't find any research to support that. What is probably the more likely answer is what you eat post gallbladder. For a lot of people, they lose significant amounts of weight post surgery. This is more likely due to the fact that patients can not eat foods high in fat. Since fat carries 9 calories per gram, they essentially lower their effective calorie count. So the question would be, did you replace you fatty foods with lean proteins are loads of carbs? And where you a part of the 20-30% the experience digestive issues?0 -

I have no idea if the idea is valid, that is just what my doctor told me right before surgery. I couldn't eat hardly anything (for about a year) before the removal (no fats, no dairy, etc).
I've thought that maybe since I was restricted so badly for so long, I overate after the surgery because I could without all the pain.0
