I do all 4. I seem to have gone a little bit crazy over the last 2 years. =)

    jk. srs.

I control my diet. I will sometimes skip meals if I'm feeling up to it. I workout regularly, but I will throw in more cardio if I feel like I want to have a bigger meal. And I also make excuses, like birthdays :)

I've lost over 50lbs doing various things and now I'm in maintenance:

I no longer track or count anything- I eat a mostly whole foods, plant based diet along with intuitive eating. This allows me to stay within my three pound maintenance range effortlessly.

I am not hungry in the morning and usually break my fast at 11am or noon. I usually eat two meals and then 1-2 snacks. I don't skip eating in the morning as a weight loss/maintenance tool.

My work out routine is simple-walk briskly 10-12 miles a week and run 4. That's it.

No excuses here-I'm in the best shape of my life, have a bmi of under 20 (down from almost 30 this time last year), have gone from a size 14 jean to a size 2, and my last blood work panel came back excellent.

I find a good workout means I can eat whatever I want and stay well under the suggested limits in fact I have trouble getting near my net calories on occasions so adding to my diet is necessary. I am not convinced totally by the eat more to lose more argument but am going to give it a try and see what happens as on occasions my net calories are extremely low. I weigh all food and record everything and calculate exercise calories using a Heart Rate Monitor using my V02 max and convert to net calories on same site.

I would be interested in anyone elses opinion on these calculators.

I used the ShapeSense calculators for a while. At first, I used the heart rate based calorie burn calculator, but since the numbers kept coming up within about 10 calories of my HRM, I just started using the net calorie burn calculator to fine-tune my MFP entries. It seemed pretty accurate - my losses were in line with what I was planning. I would recommend them. The only reason I don't use them now is because I switched to TDEE and don't log exercise calories any more.

Thanks the reason i use it is that my old Polar FT1 is the basic model and does not calculate calories.

If you can add something else, you surely can! :)

    Do you control your diet?
    Yes.
    Skip meals?
Yes - I follow an intermittent fasting routine.
    Or workout instead?
Yes. Will workout for beer, wine, food treats or just because I enjoy it.
    Or just keep making excuses?
Did that for 21 (fat) years - someone else smashed my knee which clearly made me over-eat for the next two decades so it wasn't my fault.... :noway:
  • Hello everyone! Up till now we were talking about diet, skipping meals, workouts and excuse. Now tell me how many days in a month do you take cheat meals or cheat days?

    Not sure what you mean...?

I'm in full control. I eat 3 meals per day. I also workout. I have no need for excuses. I take no free meals or free days. Ever. No need or desire for them. I basically rock my plan.
