Resting after lifting??

I've finally got my workout plan together and I was just curious on how many days do you give your muscles to recuperate? I did leg day yesterday. It's the hardest I have ever done them and they felt ok this morning so I went on a hike but now I am diffidently feeling it. I will have an arm day and an abs and back day and cardio 2-3 times this week. Should I just stick to doing each muscle section once a week or is just a couple days enough to recuperate?

    depends on volume/intensity but a couple of days is usually fine. the soreness will actually lessen after the next workout
