I feel like a stereotype sometimes. I was one of those people that upon leaving the Army said "Ha! You can't make me workout now!" Then later I looked down and went "Whoa. Maybe I should have kept working out."
I'm currently a full-time student and Army wife. I look back at my pictures and see what I used to look like. I was cute! I was petite! I have absolutely no excuse. Baby weight? Nope. Just lazy.
We eat pretty healthy. Now that I'm looking up what my usual intake is I see that I'm doing fairly well, between 1200-1500 calories daily. We've removed most toxins from our home, cleaning products and personal hygiene included. (I don't care what DH says, I am NOT giving up my Redken shampoo. ) I've even taken to baking my own bread. Have you ever seen all of the extras that go into a loaf of bread? Yuck! We very rarely eat out. I enjoy cooking and baking. I tend to save a few of whatever I make and send the rest to the local Warrior Transition Unit.
The main goal now is to get up off my butt and move. Seriously. I am a complete lump. Don't get me wrong, I love going on walks. I just like seeing things other than cars rushing by. DH likes walking along the main road since he knows the distance and can pace himself. I want to go to the mountain, (we're close to Mt Rainier) or the park.
Either way, I've started walking. DH is with me. We're eating healthy. And we both have 50 pounds to lose. Fingers crossed. Good thoughts sent into the universe. I can do this.
Now it's time to see what I can talk DH into as a prize when I beat him to the goal.

Welcome to MFP. if you log everything you eat and make adjustments to your eating habits to meet your calorie goals you will lose. if you work out you will build and tone muscle. all the other recommendations are ways of doing those two things, helping on the edges and motivation.
Happy walking.0
