Please have a big hug. that is if it is not too painful. I might have a slight idea of how it feels when every movement takes such a great amount of effort to achieve what feels like very little, or not as much movement as you would like.

I am trying to sort myself out because of salicylate sensitivity which had morphed from foods to smells as well MCS. I have just ordered myself some masks in an attempt to reduce the contamination further. I have been fortunate to have lost weight over time but need to loose much more.

Please don't be too hard on yourself, accept what you can and can't do and push at the margins a little.

Please contact me if you think I would be of any help

    All the very best

My boyfriend has Rheumatoid Arthritis, Ankylosing Spondylitis and he had two hip surgeries. He did aqua fit at the YMCA and it has really helped him. When we first joined in February he was walking with a cane and now along with his aqua fit, he's using the treadmill, recumbent exercise bike and just started with a bit of strength training. I hope this helps. Take care.

Here's a hug, and I completely understand. I have two autoimmune diseases. I have IgA Nephropathy, which has caused me to go into kidney failure and ligamentous hyperlaxtivity which is just a fancy way of saying that my ligaments are too weak to support my joints and I can sprain my ankle while standing still (Honestly, I've done that more times than I can count). I have also gained weight from dialysis and some medications. It is tough, but it's still not impossible. As for exercise, start small. When I first started, I could barely walk for 10 minutes, but I walked those 10 minutes. After awhile, I was able to increase how much I could walk little by little, and now I'm surprising myself with how much energy I have. Even as you gain more energy, you'll still have your off days, so listen to your body. If you need to rest, do so. Good luck to you!
  • Hi,

One of the best ways to feel better is to eat better. Look up Lean Secrets. She has an amazing outlook on life with good, cheap and simple diet tips. Feeding your body with the best nutrition is a great base for keeping as healthy as possible. Add in protein shakes (the less ingredients the better and be aware of Soya based powders as they are not great for bodies in my opinion as they encourage oestrogen build up).

Water based exercise would support your body along with walking as much as possible and one of the best things for your body ever is meditation. Download some free meditation tracks or mindfulness techniques to help you with this. Weights would also be useful along side squats and lunges if possible to help build up the muscle. You have to push yourself but you have to learn when too much is just about to hit.

Make a plan, check it with your doctor, take care and good luck.
