Cancer Fighting Food Ideas?

Found out two months ago that I have stage IV melanoma in my lungs. Boy has that thrown me for a loop. I had lung surgery to remove the tumor in August and I'm still trying to recover from that. Needless to say my workouts have been shut down until I'm fully healed. This has caused me to gain 18lbs of the 40 I lost back.
Also found out that I have something called Empty Sella Syndrome. This is where the pituitary gland in my head has been flattened out, giving it the look that it has disappeared. The pituitary gland controls all the hormones in your body, including the ones that control your metabolism. This would be why I haven’t lost any weight no matter what since Feb. 2013.
I’m trying to stay positive through all of this and I’m hoping that coming back to MFP and starting again will help me track the foods I’m eating to lose wight AND fight cancer as there are a lot of foods I’m supposed to get into my body every day.
Any food ideas or experiances anybody could share would be awesome if you have delt with either cancer and/or hormone issues.
Thank you!

A relative of mine recently finished treatment for breast cancer and she's now working with a chiropractor who specializes in nutrition (with her oncologists blessing). You might want to look into something like that. Her doctor refered her and her insurance is paying for it. He has her on a specific diet (for health, not weight loss), and the focus is on lots of veggies, especially the dark leafy ones. She's also taking several supplements (which her doctors approved).0

Recommendations from my oncologist:
Eat organic whenever possible.
Cruciferous vegetable or broccoli sprouts every day
Eat a black food every day--blackberries, blueberries, black beans, black rice, black grapes, eggplant, prunes, plums
Eat the rainbow--eat at least four different colors of fruits and vegetables every day.
Green tea, at least a cup a day.
Good luck. Cancer sucks. Feel free to PM me.0 -
