Road Bikers; Are you on MFP

I am planning to purchase a road bike in the near future because running has become too much for my hip and knees. I like to get into what ever I am doing and I am looking to hear from others who are into road bikes for distances 30miles and up.

Please post your thoughts for beginners, intermediate and advance bikers here. Thanks.

^^^ this would probably be the best move - plus, it's probably one of the more active groups re: all kinds of pedal cycling, so you'll get plenty of informed (if occasionally slightly irreverend) replies
