Post workout skin twitches

Hello!
Im hoping that this isnt a really silly question that has been asked a million times before, but when I have finished a workout I notice a tiny twitching senstation in my thighs, like just beneath the skin, it almost like ants under my skin, very strange but not a terrible feeling. A better description would be like water trickling under my skin. It's usually when I have been running or doing some other cardio type workout, never when lifting etc and lasts for around 15 minutes.
Im not worried, just wondered why this happens.
Thanks in advance xx

I may be forced to worry if no one tells me it's normal though.. haha0

This happens to me, too. I googled it and found this...
Why do muscles twitch after a workout? The short answer, according to the LA Times, is lots of reasons. Want more specifics? The Times puts the question to Dr. John Su, a sports medicine physician at UCLA, who says twitching could be caused by insufficient energy in the muscles. According to Su, muscles need adequate energy for proper contraction and relaxation, and
a specific balance of electrolytes (such as sodium, potassium, calcium
and magnesium) to regulate electrical signals governing contraction of
the muscles. If either of these needs aren’t met, you may get a
cramp or twitching."
Joel Stager, a kinesiology professor at Indiana University in Bloomington, tells the Times that there could be a neural component. After intensive activity, the recovery process takes some time to be
complete. Chemical substances that act as neural signals causing the
muscles to contract must be recycled. Until they are, the muscle cells
remain "irritable" and may spontaneously contract.
Finally, the Times offers this advice: To reduce the chance of post-exercise twitching, warm up before working
out, gradually increase your workload, drink plenty of fluids,
incorporate stretching and keep muscles warm — tights can help.0 -
Yeah I believe it is a normal thing that happens to a lot of people.0

I have had that problem in 2008 when I was training for marathons and running long distance. I had to increase water and electrolyte intake. I ended up take an electrolyte replacement called endurolytes from hammer nutrition. But unless you are doing distance training where you are exercising in excess of 2 hours daily, you should be able to get supplements in normal food intake, or by getting supplements at pharmacy.0

Thank you guys :flowerforyou:
I did a little research too after posting and apparantly the popping sensation Im referring to is called Fasciculation. To be honest I quite like it, it lets me know ive worked hard!
thank you x0 -
I get that, and I like it too. It makes me think my body is still processing the workout after I stop moving.0

I *HATE* when this happens, because it happens even when I don't work out at all, and I DON'T KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON WITH MY BODY!!!!
It happens in areas where I have cellulite/fat, and it feels as though it is the fat//cellulite being deposited!
It's not painful at all, I just feel them ALL THE TIME throughout my body.
I feel like if I eat anything at all it will initiate unwanted fat storage....
I would fast for 4 days, but on the 4th I still felt them.
I'm also not very stress out, and I get a decent amount of sleep.
I think it may be due to a lack of potassium in my diet even though I'm vegan.
I get a decent amount of calcium, and salt, maybe I'm not getting enough of these including magnesium. But I think I'm getting enough...
I find it difficult to get enough, if that is the case!
Should I take supplements? I already drink vitamin waters (zero) and I occasionally take a magnesium supplement(hardly ever however) Should I take the magnesium supplement more often, I don't think it would cause adverse reactions hardly.
I'm mainly concerned about potassium however, I don't think much about it- it's in my vitamin waters however that does not make up for a day's worth- I think I may need to take potassium supplements.0 -
Yeah I get that too, always have even when I was a kid... I say it's Pacman eating my fat up! Its not a problem and it doesn't hurt... as far as I am concerned.0
