Recommend a Diet

Hey Guys, I am working out about 6 times a week doing insanity however I am not seeing much change in my weight. My measurements have changed (wooohooo) But I want to see the weight go down. Can anyone recommend a Diet? Something that doesn't have so many protein shakes a day. I always feel very hungry.
Thanks
Mayra

Eat what you like and either eat less or move more. Does not need to be more complicated than that. You can start by calculating your maintenance calories and then pick a cut you can live with http://iifym.com/tdee-calculator/

Also I noticed most of your friends haven't logged on in months/weeks. Delete them and get active, motivated buddies who will encourage you to be accountable.

I recommend the "eat fewer calories" diet. It's all the rage.

I can't recommend anything other then eat food, get some protien from meat in there.

Don't worry about the scale number, inches lost are great. I prefer those to lbs.

I see your goals are to get into shape and be healthy. Healthy and "in shape" is not defined by the number on a scale unless you are measuring BF%.

Try lifting weights instead that will get you in shape.

It's not a 'DIET' it's a LIFESTYLE you MUST commit to in order to see any results!

    1. Figure out your TDEE (Google this)
    2. Eat 20% less than this.
    3. Exercise.
    4. Lose weight.

    Yeah, it's that easy. :flowerforyou:

If the measurements are going down, you need to stop worrying about the scale. Seriously. Sounds like you're doing incredible.

Bingo. And when you can make that transition from thinking of it as a lifestyle versus a diet I personally believe you'll see better results.

Use this website (MFP) every day and log all your food. Stay under your goals and EXERCISE. By the way, exercise doesn't need to be running a marathon. A nice walk each day will help you lose weight, get in better shape and FEEL GREAT!

I started 10,000 Steps for Life to help encourage those to walk. Check it out if you feel inspired.

Losing inches without losing weight nearly always means losing more fat than muscle. It should be preferable to losing lbs and inches.

I maintained for most of the summer and then I went vegetarian (HEALTHY veg, not eating pasta and white rice all day) and cut out as many processed foods as possible and my weight loss has been steady again. I do body weight exercises, yoga, walk my dog everyday for a good 30 min and occasionally run. This isn't a diet but a lifestyle I plan on maintaining for the rest of my life.

My other piece of advice: Forget protein shakes and diet crap. It's usually gross and actually not that healthy for you. Eat real food that you actually LIKE.

I also disagree with a lot of the TDEE people who will tell you to eat more. I am a middle aged woman and there is no reason why I need 2000+ calories a day! I tried the TDEE method and that was the reason for my "maintain" this summer. I went back to the 1250 a day goal and started to lose again. I am NOT hungry or starving myself.

    Good luck!

You lost weight because you had a calorie deficit, not because you eliminated a bunch of items from your intake. Also, TDEE calculators are an estimate, but if it gave you a number of 2000+ calories (if you entered info accurately) and you are only eating 1250, you are probably doing it wrong.

My trainer took me OFF my diet and here is her thinking. PEOPLE FAIL AT DIETS...... Sooo I am on a lifestyle change. This is what I do on a daily basis and these are my daily goals. HENCE lifestyle change. You need to change the way you think and feel about yourself AND your body. Nothing is quick and nothing is easy---so change your life and make it happen.

Me too. I didn't make a "lifestyle" change. I just started eating less. Big whoop. There's more to life than your diet, and if what you eat is such a source of meaning to you that you define your "lifestyle" by it then.... ugh.

It's just food. Yes, it can be enjoyable and you need to exercise control over it. But it's not your life. It's your diet.

To your first, sentence : Obviously there's a calorie deficit. Slow clap.

Secondly, I would disagree. I see a more rapid weight loss when I'm eating "clean" (or whatever you want to call it) even though I'm eating the same amount of calories as I was when eating meat and processed food.

Third, when I calculated my TDEE it gave me something around 1800. I tried this for the summer and didn't lose a single pound. I went back to the 1250 that MFP suggested and started losing again. I only mention this because invariably when someone posts about not losing weight and some well intentioned? person always tells them to UP their calories because they are in starvation mode...blah, blah, blah. I've seen huge women eating 2400+ calories a day because supposedly that's what their TDEE told them to eat and then complain that they don't know why they aren't losing weight!! I've also seen numerous threads bashing only eating 1200 - 1500 cal a day as too low. For me this isn't the case and I think this is really sabotaging a lot of women's weight loss!
