Looking for good DVD beginner workout

Help?

A little history may help here...

I was on the road to fitness and losing weight at a pretty steady pace until I stopped smoking about a year and half ago. That, coupled with a great deal of stressful situations since then have led to my gaining 60+ pounds in that time frame. Wow. Saying that out loud is scary.

Anyway, I was going to a local gym early mornings 4 days a week and was pretty much doing the same routine every day - cardio & strength training. But, I CANNOT go back there until I at least get this 60 lbs off again. Also, right now, I don't even have the energy level to walk more than 10 minutes or so.

I'm going to convert one of the bedrooms in my house to workout central. Need some ideas on workout DVD's for the really out of shape (me) and possibly some yoga as well.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

I highly recommend Lesilie Sansone's DVDs. Start with 1 mile and work your way up to 5. Some of them include some light weights as well.

    Check your library for DVDs.

I started with Gilad's Beginners Weight Loss and Toning Program. It was easy and didn't intimidate me. Then I went to Shaun T's Rockin' Body which I still do sometimes just because it's fun.

I agree with the Walk Away the Pounds dvd's by Leslie Sansone.

I agree with the Leslie Sansone DVD's. Also look for some quick and easy workouts on YouTube. There are lots to try out until you find one or two you like. I also checked out some Pilates DVD's from the library, but they were a little too tame for my taste. I like dancing and have several dancing games for the Xbox Kinect. I don't have an audience, so I don't care how uncoordinated I look!

I really like a DVD by Sugar Ray Leonard & Laila Ali: Knockout Two-Pack. The beginner work out is great (30mins). Nothing I couldn't physically do and its fun.

I love the 30 Day Shred by Jillian Michaels. I didn't do it every day when I first started out because that would have been too much for me. There are three levels to progress through as you get more comfortable with the workout and they show you modified versions of every move, so you can pick and choose which version to do if something is too difficult.

Jessica Smith "Walking for Weight Loss" at collagevideo.com. She is also on YouTube. Leslie is good, too, but has a tendency to be too chatty for me.

    This!^

You can do Walk at Home DVDs at your own pace, and build up speed and distance at your own pace. These are low impact and super easy to modify.

These are sold at Wal-Mart, Target, etc. Newer ones (Just Walk & Walk at Home) are chaptered .....you buy a 5 mile DVD (or 4 or whatever) .... and you "create" a 1 mile walk using the "skip" button on your remote control.

If you want to incorporated cardio & strength in 1 (beginner) DVD - I recommend Walk it Off in 30 Days (has a 2 mile walk & separate 30 minute weight routine) or Ultimate 5 Day Walk Plan (has 5 miles plus 5 different weight programs ....like 5 minutes each) ...this DVD is programable ....you can mix and match all the pieces.

If you have any joint issues ......steer clear of higher impact DVDs (30 Day Shred) ....until you get stronger.
