The longer the distance, the faster I am.

How can that be even possible? And it's each and every time.

When I run 5k on a normal day (not a race), I have a hard time finishing under 30 minutes, with an average heart rate of 176, but whenever I'm running 4, 5, 6 or more miles, my pace is usually in the low 10s, and this morning my average pace was 9:38/mile. And I didn't even bring my watch with me! I wanted to concentrate on my running form and my breathing. The only companion I had was music. And I took extra care in slowing down my pace (that I thought!). And it didn't feel like my HR was higher than 176; it felt like it was either the same or maybe even lower than that?!?!

Sooo weird. My guess is that when I wear my watch, I may put too much pressure on myself, running too fast, too soon, and as a result, I get tired faster, slowing down my pace. If that makes any sense!?!

I'm 5'4", and my weight is 150. Still have to get rid of 20-25 pounds.

Anybody has another explanation?
