I feel for you, I have been there with my 10 month old but with my own 5 and 3 years olds AND 4 home daycare children ages 4 and under. It is hard and tiring! That year I lost 20 pounds by only eating a meal time and spending lots and lots of time walking to and from the park. You can do it! I know everyone says it and you probably won't do it but- sleep when the baby sleeps. The dishes are not going anywhere. Sleep is the answer. If you can get enough sleep to function better you can pay attention to what you put in your mouth and you will have the energy to move more.

I only maintained for 2 years and then slowly gained the 20 back, so 10 years later with teenage kids now, I worked hard and I lost the 20 pounds again. (Actually 25 by the time I really took action.) I plan to be better at maintaining better this time.

Keep after your goals and you will get there.

I used my children as weights. You can put her on your ankles and do leg raises or in a box or laundry basket and push/ pull her around the room (chuchu train) and work those arms. I also liked going for walks with my kids and they seemed to sleep better at night when they got some fresh air during the day.

Take her on walks. Walking is the #1 thing that helped me lose 60+ lbs. And I am a SAHM of 4!

Maybe you could find ways to include her in your exercise? It doesn't have to be traditional stuff. You could be a donkey and let her ride, or teach her jumping jacks, or go somersaulting.

I work out with dvds when my 15 month old is napping and/or I take her on walks, sometimes to the park where I chase her around for an hour. You can also ask Dad to watch the baby for 30 mins to an hour so you can have time for a workout after dinner (this is when I go to the gym)

I have 6 kids, 2 of which are 19 month old twins I have been working out for over a year. Workout when they nap. If it's important to you, you will find the time.

Everyone has different stressors in their life. For some people, it's working full time (I am away from home 11 hours a day), for some it's being a parent to multiple children, and for some people it's both.

Point being? Make time. Everyone has to do it.

You have one child who should be easy to contain or at least takes naps. STOP with the excuses. Plain and simple.

I have 4. Two are gone at school and two are home all day with me. I find the time cause I make the time.

And you mentioned school, yep, did that and worked full time while my first two were toddlers. AND I still exercised. And I nursed, so therefore was attached to a pump, alot. Still found time to run 3-5mi a day and more on the weekends.

I'm not saying it's not challenging or tiring to "find the time" but when YOU want something bad enough, you MAKE the time.

I make the time for 30-90 mins a day.....I'm worth it AND my kids deserve a mom who takes care of herself too.

    Good luck OP

My kids always like exercising with me. It was hilarious watching the baby do push ups.

My daughter is 2, my son is 9, my son is at school all day, my daughter doesn't wake up in the morning till 9:30 every morning, I wake up at 7:30 every morning to get my workout in, showered and breakfast ready for her. I adjust my schedule around hers.

Sometimes I workout with her up, I try not to do this because she likes to get under me. But when I can, I include her in my workout.

She loves it when we do this!

  • At 10 months old she naps right?? Try doing it then!! The most important thing to do is look at it as a MUST do kind of thing. Feeding the kids must be done, eating must be done, sleeping must be done, and your workout must be done!!

Just out of curiosity since I'm pregnant with my first child is it easier to schedule workouts and eating right when you are a stay at home mom or when you are a full time working mom?

I'm a SAHM and I schedule most everything. I log my food into MFP for the whole day either the night before or the morning of. This way I know for sure what I'm eating and won't be tempted to eat anything else. I do workout DVD's so my workout is planned out for me. I just schedule the time, which is between 7:30 and 8 am.

For myself mine are 19 months soon and 3 years . I have lost 30 lbs since Jan 1 of this year ,I believe one of the reasons the weight came off is well I had my tubes tied so no more pregnancies finally lol and well just pushing myself , my two daughters never nap at the same time and took my youngest till 13 months to sleep through the night , I had little sleep for quite some time .

I take walks with them and take them in the double stroller uphill around our block that stroller weighs almost 20 lbs with no kids in it .
I do housework cleaning dishes, clothes, dusting anything to get myself moving I do all the cleaning my husband does none ) there is no resentment there by the way ) I understand why its this way for now.

He works 3rd shift 12hr days sometimes 60 hour weeks and is in school and bowls once week and takes our oldest on sat to bowl too, he is beyond busy and we share a car so no gyms for me

I got some dvds to work with beginner ones I use no weights and when my youngest was little I would use her for weight , I use my own body these days.

I do not expect any muscle definition with this but if I was ever able I would join a gym , but that's on hold for now

anyways don't beat yourself up if you don't workout everyday , as long as you get some workout like 2 3 days a week is better than none .

You can do this we are here to support you :)
