What role does cholesterol play in weight loss?

I've noticed that avoiding sugar has played a huge role in my weight loss.. obviously carbs, as well as bad fats. In trying to stay away from sugars, i find myself eating high protein things like lean meats, natural almond butter and eggs. These things skyrocket my cholesterol, especially the eggs. I don't have health problems or high cholesterol. But i'm afraid anyway that it will hinder my weight loss. Avoiding almost everything for fear that there's something in it that will make me fat, has me feeling like an anorexic sometimes. i have one egg a day, but it puts my cholesterol in the red if i eat a serving of any kind of meat with dinner. it's been bothering me. thanks guys!

only calories will affect your weight loss

cholesterol affects your number of visits to the emergency room. :)

Orthorexia is not a way to go through life.

If you're worried about your cholesterol go to the docs and get a blood test to see if your increase in it has had any negative effects on your levels. You could also eat just the egg whites if you're worried. For the regular healthy person who is not overdoing the cholesterol, an egg and piece of chicken should not be an issue. But if there is a family history. Or if you notice your blood levels have changed, it may be time to cut back.

    1) You really only need to focus on calories and not avoid anything in particular.
    2) get your macronutrients straight
    3) eat variety of nutrient rich, fresh food most of the time for micronutrients.

    4) don't avoid and don't enter into the trap of "bad foods" just focus most of your eating on what you currently think is healthy - 80/20.
