After how many lbs have you noticed a difference?

How many lbs did you lose before you noticed you were losing the weight? I lost 20lbs and I don't really see a huge difference

Take measurements and take before, during, after photos. Sometimes it is really hard for us to see the difference. Also, unless you are doing a lot of weight training, your body will probably still have the same proportions, just a smaller version of what it used to be. Weight training can help to change to proportions, which may help you see a bigger difference.

I asked the same question months ago when I'd lost 20lbs and no one could tell (including me) and the overwhelming answer was between 40-45lbs (assuming you had that much to lose to begin with)...but they overwhelmingly said "TAKE PICS" and measurements. I high recommend both so you can clearly see your changes side by side when you look at the numbers or view the pics.

It's going to depend...people with a lot to lose will see little difference until they lose a substantial amount of weight. People with less to lose will show much quicker as it will be more obvious. I've been maintaining for about five months now at a healthy BF%, but I could still cut a bit...if I were to say, lose 10 Lbs right now...it would be hugely noticeable. But my first 10 Lbs when I started was pretty negligible in RE to the way I looked.

I didn't really start visually seeing changes until about 20 Lbs...I've lost 40 Lbs all said and done and there was definitely a lot more noticeable difference on the back 20 vs the front 20. The more you lean out, the more little weight changes become noticeable.

I also recommend progress pics every 10 Lbs or so at least...we see ourselves in the mirror every day and it can be hard to see the changes when you're looking at your own mug every day...side by sides are the way to go.

I lost 20 and noticed a small difference. At 30 my friends and family started mentioning it. At 45 I noticed a huge difference in clothes and random acquaintences will mention that I've lost weight. Keep going you'll get there!
  • thanks everyone for the answers! all helpful!! =)
  • Down 24 pounds and I had to buy new pants. The old ones kept falling off. I starting wearing clothes that I hadn't worn for a couple of years as they were "too tight" back then and fit "just right" now. It really depends on where the weight is coming from. If it is from all over than it is going to take longer to make a visible impression. My daughter mentioned to me the other day that she wasn't used to seeing me in baggy t-shirts and that did more to brighten my week than any weigh scale ever could.
