It's a journey and not a race

I've been telling myself this for years and this time I hope it sticks. Just started the diary this week. Also started taking Belviq - a fairly new wieght management drug. I've got a long way to go. I love to eat and love comfort foods. It's an addiction and i need to pursue it as such - one day at a time.
I am a 55 yo women
5'8 229 lbs
My initial goal is 170, then work to get to the ideal goal of 155. I've only been that weight once in my life and I was using fen-fen to be successful, with NO SIDE EFFECTS.
Here's to success! I really want to lose and become healthy.
I hope this site helps!

Though I am not a fan of the cliche sayings, this is very true. Honestly the hardest part of weight loss so far for me has been in changing the way I think about it. I have always been a brainwashed "you must only eat healthy food, you must exercise every day, you must not eat more than 1200 calories, you are a failure if you don't lose 10 lbs per month" person. In the past three months I've broken all these rules an uncountable number of times and yet I am 24 lbs down and feeling pretty dang good about the way I've done it. It won't always be easy but it is worth it in the end. There's my cliche for you : )0

I'm a 5'9" woman, 41 years old. I started at 215+ I'm around 174 right now. I eat around 2000 calories a day. I run and workout 4-5 times a week mostly in the 30-45 minute range. I have two kids and a full time job. I do not take any drugs or supplements. YOU. CAN. DO. IT.0

I'm a 50 year old woman, 5'4" and in the last three years I have gone down from 264lbs to 202lbs.
For the first two years I did it on my own and managed about 15lbs a year, then I joined MFP a year ago and I have lost about 30lbs in a year
I walk 2.5 miles workday lunchtimes and about 15 miles over the weekend, I mostly eat what I always have (semi-veggie) but the extra walking is doing the trick and I can tell my attitude to food has changed; there is chocolate in the house AND I DON'T HAVE TO GO AND EAT IT!
I don't really have a goal weight, I'd be happy with 180? But I am already back to what I was when I was 20 years old, so if I didn't lose another pound, I'd be fine with that.
My only tip would be to not set your goal calories for the day too low, my goal is 1500, (about 1700 on a day to day basis with exercise calories) it means the weight comes off slowly, but it comes off, bit by bit.
Good luck.0 -
I am also definately a food addict. Trying hard now and taking it one day at a time. I also had success with fen fen and had no side effects. I was so distraught when they took it off the market. It is the only drug I have ever tried that controled my appitite. When the pharmasist told me they could no longer give it to me, I kept arguing that "I had a prescription". Oh Well as I said I day at a time. Good luck in your journey.0
