bench - uneven arms

my dad is having a bit of trouble with form on the bench press. from where i stand, it looks almost like on arm is longer than the other so the bar wibbles, and moves up quite unevenly.

any ideas how to address this? he is an older man, if that is significant. (76)

He needs to lower the weight he is using until he can correct his form. You should also look for muscle imbalances (tight lats, weak pec or shoulder).

Maybe try dumbbell chest press sometimes instead of barbell to balance out muscle weakness/imbalance. Mix it up!

More than likely it's muscle imbalance ... one arm is stronger than the other. Using dumbbells instead of barbell can help reduce the imbalance over time.

    thanks i'll try the dumbbells.

i don't think the weight is too much - we take it very slow as ive read lift to fail isnt the ideal strategy over a certain age.

    thanks for the suggestions.
