Hi all, needing some help to get me started please. I had a baby 8 weeks ago and i have a toddler so other than house work and a walk i don't really get exercise and i'm very partial to chocolate and sweets. I'm having trouble knowing what to eat and getting motivated. Any help is welcome. Thanks.

  • Welcome!

Walking is great excercise! Take the baby out for stroller walks and bring the little tike along. Go to the park, push your toddler on a swing, all great stuff!

In terms of eating - I find that I need to keep the chocolate out of the house or I'll eat it. I like having skinny cow or weight watchers ice cream on hand (the weight watchers fudge bars are amazing!). For my salty cravings I like kale chips (I make them myself).

    Hope that helps!
  • Congrats on your new baby !!

During my pregnancies I had the worst sweet tooth... I actually gain more weight after my baby was born... breastfeeding made me so hungry and I would eat sweets & deserts!!! One Oreo wasnt enough 8 Oreos were better ! My advise: You gotta STOP buying cookies/desert/ice cream. If you have it you will be tempted... I was terrible I would actually drive at night to go buy sweets ... so gotta go cold turkey. Switch to something else. For exemple I started drinking herbal tea at night (instead of sweets) and would have a piece of gum right after a meal. Tracking your food here is also an awesome tool!

As for exercise start by walking, walking a lot ! Also try putting baby in a carrier (add some weight and baby loves to be close to you!). Most gym have "child minding" and when baby is little he's most likely to sleep the whole time in his carseat. Give your 110% and you'll see it's all worth it!!! I started to lose weight and feel better when my baby was 6 month old. He's now 13 months :) Good luck
