HI, i am new here, i just downloaded and started the app...

Having been a good large size for 20 years, I had an accident, which almost paralysed me, I was bed bound and put on a huge amount of weight. Go back 2 years and I was struggling to cope and my food intake was horrendous, I was literally eating non stop and hungry almost all the time.

However I had back surgery as it was crippling me and something happened that changed my thinking.

New Years Eve and there is plenty of food about, but I couldnt wear my favorite pants/trousers as my clothes wouldnt fit anymore. This really upset me and I was determined to do something about it. So i went to see a nutritionist, while she was very helpful, I had issues that cutting my intake as per her requests wouldnt be enough. I decided to take it a step further, I discussed a more radical change, I became a vegetarian. I phased this in over 6 months to give my body time to adapt). This was a tough choice for me as meat has always been my achilles heel, but after 3 months i began to notice a change. 16 months later, I have lost 126 pounds and got some of my confidence back in exchange...

So a friend of mine said would you like to buddy with me at the gym as he was wanting to lose weight as well. I was initially very nervous and thought, ah its going to be a meat market and ill be the only fat person there, (boy was i wrong!). after the initial assesment session, i decided to take some guidance and took a personal trainer for a couple of sessions to guide me in my goal and my nutritional needs.

In the last month or so my trainer has reviewed and adjusted my food intake to help cope with my 3 workout sessions a week as he said I wasnt eating enough to support my workouts. Being a bit sceptical, (i was worried I would put on weight), so I got your myfitnesspal today which indeed confirmed that I was actually deficient in around 1000 calories a day. which I was quite suprised at, your app is very helpful in filling the food gap (information wise).

At the moment I am not sure where I am headed, I still have have 35 more pounds to lose before i hit my ideal weight, but the fun of being able to run 3 miles (a day) has kept me going and I just wanted to share and maybe encourage other people it is possible to get there, but it requires a lot of patience, moreso than anything else...

I wouldnt call myself a gym rat, but I am enjoying my time now and its beginning to be fun as well...

I guess I will post in the success forum, once i reach my goal, rather not tempt fate lol...

I must be doing something right, my friend has just asked me to help prepare him a nutrional plan as hes struggling to keep up, if it werent for him I wouldnt have joined the gym, as I didnt have a lot of confidence 6 months ago, now he is struggling to not overeat, so I am trying to help him as well, but he loves his meat and has trouble staying on a plan...

My trainer has been a big help too, I wish I had done this sooner now...
