podrunner C25K: distances?

I did the 'week 1' session yesterday for the first time.
The mp3 track lasted for 30 minutes. I did just over 2.5 kilometres in that time.
Was I supposed to have covered more distance than that?
Since everyone's stride is different, how do I know that at week 10 I'm going to cover 5km?
Anyone know? 'Distance' doesn't seem to be explained or mentioned on the site or in the intro.
Thanks.
NB: I used to hate 'speed walking' or 'intervals' around my local park for an hour when left to my own devices. It really helped to have the intervals measured out and to only do it for 30 mins, so if you've given up on jogging before I'd recommend giving this a try: http://www.djsteveboy.com/intervals.html Also, if you usually get pains in the legs when you try to walk or run, google 'shin splints'. It helps to know what causes the pain and how to do some stretching every day to counteract it. There's a slim chance that a 5km run every evening could even become enjoyable.

Have you looked into the Nike+ Sensor? It's quite affordable, and attaches to your shoe and uses an ipod/iphone. It will give you feedback regarding your pace, calories burned, distance, etc.

You can do the C25K program 2 different ways. One is by time and one is by distance. The program will get you to run for 30minutes straight, which may not be 5Km for you. However, if you do it to 30 minutes it would only take another week or so to get to the 3 miles.

I started C25K last week. I beleive I covered 3.11km to 3.75km on my first week. I did W2D2 today and covered 3.85km. I run outside and live on an upfill street so my workouts tend to last an extra 5 mins because once I make it back up the hill I walk around to the end of the street to cool down before being done.0
