Weight gain and measurements...?

HI guys, since last weigh in a month ago I have gained 4 pounds. I have also gained 1.5cm in my lower thigh, and 1.5cm in my mid thigh. My stomach remains the same.
I have changed my exercise in the last 3 weeks. I was only doing walking and light weights, but now I do more intense cardio and more often, and also still do the weights.
My die remains the same, and I have always kept pretty healthy. I drink lots of water everyday. I have started taking a multi vitamin and also L carnitine (only started both a week ago) but thats all thats different.
Could I really have gained this much muscle? I don't have much to lose, but have very stubborn stomach and thigh fat. Any help would be much appreciated!! :)

The pounds are probably water from the extra work you are doing with your muscles. As far as gaining cms that soon, I don't know. My lower thigh measurements definitely go up when I start weight training again, very quickly. They feel hard, too. Is the more intense cardio you do plyometric or anything that might build some muscle?

I don't think it's muscle gain yet because that takes longer, but it could be muscle changes in any case. I don't know enough about it, but I'm never surprised to see and feel 'more' muscles earlier than they say you do (in my legs and butt).

Do your lower thighs look and feel more muscular? I mean, can you already see that something is definitely going on? That's what mine do. I can't see all of my upper thigh muscles enough to say the same for them early in a program, lol.

I don't try to measure/count how much muscle I might be gaining, though. I'd have to get it tested. I have no idea how much muscle I put on or not.

Thanks for your reply, yes the exercise are more plyometric- lots of jumps squats! Well actually, I think it is muscle gain in my lower thighs now that I think about it. I do feel a bit "tougher" there! I have stubborn inner thigh fat so can't see any changes there yet!

So as for the pounds possibly being water from the exercise changes, how long would that take to go away?

I think they say 3 weeks. In my personal experience, within 3 weeks, I'm always doing something new to torture the same muscles harder, so I don't know really.

I do know that eventually I start losing a lot quicker doing the same program, so I take it that's when I've built more muscle than I started with for sure.
