Are urinals safe?

I am starting to think urinals are not safe. When I pee in the urinal I can feel the fumes vaporize onto my face. How is that hygienic? And sometimes in a public restroom, someone already peed in the urinal and now their germs are on my face. You can feel the vapors. Urinals could be real dangerous!
