How to cope with change?

I am doing quite good when life in general is pretty routine but when things change both in good and bad ways I really have hard time to adapt. I have been on vacation for the last 10 days and somewhere in the middle of my vacation I got a call and learned that I have been promoted at work, it is great news, I worked very hard all through my career which is almost 18 years. I am happy and proud of myself.
Of course some other folks at work are not very happy with the news as they were not promoted but me, I will be working with at least 2 of them as their manager and I had to cope with all their attitudes. I know things will settle down after a while, but meanwhile I have to cope with lots of negativity. My job itself is stressful, lots of deadlines, lots of work to do, lots of last minute demands, etc... plus this people issues I am afraid one of the first things I will drop of will be my weight loss goal. But I don't want to give up, I want to find a way to deal and manage everything well.
Luckily I am a wife and a mother of a toddler, they are my greatest supporters in life. I love them very much. As one can imagine I have quite a busy life.
So how do you manage, balance life? How do you cope with change?
