I put it ALL in the fridge. I used to leave out potatoes, onions, and certain fruits but then I started to see lots of little bugs and even a few fruit flies in my place. NO. I am not having that.

Farm fresh eggs don't need to go in the fridge. I've got a couple co-workers who have "free-range" chickens and geese and bring in eggs to sell - but I still put them in there out of habit.

I never kept things like soy sauce in the fridge but we don't use them often enough so Hubs thinks they should be in there to make sure they don't go bad.

Potatoes, winter squash, apples and bananas don't go in the fridge but all other fresh produce does. Sometimes the fresh garden stuff that the neighbors bring over to share stays out but that doesn't last long anyway.

For me, (other than eggs), it depends on the season. I get gnats if I leave the fruits and veggies out in the summer. I only keep them out during the winter when the bugs are gone. When storing most root veggies in the frig I put them in a plastic bag with a wet napkin around them. Keeps them growing and fresh longer.

The eggs make sense since the chickens don't lay them in a fridge, but to keep them fresh longer than the normal shelf life, I keep them in the fridge.
