I don't know why this shocked me so much. I never really thought too much about it. I just started this whole thang to lose weight. THAT was my only goal. But my bank account is thanking me too! I looked back at old bank statements and realized holy crap, i spent so much money on food its ridiculous. I never even bothered dieting because "oh GOD! Healthy food is SO expensive. Screw that. I'm going to jack in the box" and i had this backwards way of thinking for a decade.

A normal day for me a couple months ago i would order a pizza in the morning when they opened and that alone is $25. Then of coarse i'll be hungry mid day, so of coarse i can't starve myself right? I gotta gets me some carl's jr! That's another $15. Then maybe eat something at home (i can't believe i was still hungry at this point) and whatever i ate at home was probably $10 worth of food. $50 in one day for food? Damn. And this wasn't a rare occurrence. This was all the time. That's not even including if that day i went to a restaurant like olive garden or apple bees and spent $60+. And being a good tipper made it even worse.

I'm looking back at all this wasted money and i'm like "i could've eaten more healthy and lost weight. AND put that extra would-be junk food money in savings and after less than a year, i probably would've had enough money to buy x or something. Hell, i could've bought a new retina macbook pro! And been skinny while i unboxed the damn thing!"

I just...feel so stupid for living my life that way for so long. I'm so glad for that one night at work i decided to browse the app store and accidentally run into the fitness pal app. That free app changed my life.

Good call. :D I'm finding food cheaper too. I always cook dinner at home, but portion sizes have gone down and no more money being spent on chocolate. :D

Yup. Food seems to last longer when you are eating correct portions. My box of cereal lasted me 2 weeks when normally I could kill that bad boy within a week.

yeah, when I put some of my recipes into the recipe thing I add in my head how much that would be per portion and it blows me away. Good luck :-)

I totally agree. I've saved a lot of money not buying so much junk anymore.
