I just wonder if you think that it really makes a difference that you are not going to shop there because if the mannequins? How would and 11 yo girl know that you disagree with how this store displays their clothes?
Not trying to be sarcastic, I am really curious as to how you think this will make a difference.
actually i was just coming back to this thread to mention (if anyone cared) that as i drove by that same store this morning i saw NO mannequins and a sign in the window that stated "new displays coming soon" so i guess i did make a difference. thanks0 -
...says the poster with a photo pushing out her collarbones in her profile?
Hypocrisy much?
I don't see any exaggerated collar bones or anything else unhealthy in her profile pic.
It's not her main profile pic, it's the second photo in her profile. And then there's this from her "Why I want to get in shape" section:
"To be honest I want to get my hip bones back, ribs to show a bit more, thigh gap back, and a 22inch waist."
I don't want to cast insults at the OP, but honestly, I'm a bit confused as to why someone would have any problems with a mannequin that falls in line with her ideal of what she wants to look like. There's a couple of little hints in what she's said that she's dealt with (or is perhaps still dealing with) an ED, so maybe where she's coming from is a bit more complicated.
well one i dont need to justify what i want to look like to anyone
two if you bothered to read any of the above things i mentioned, you would realize that i lived with (and still struggle with) and eating disorder, and you would realize that i stated that just because i wanted to look one way doesnt mean that i wanted other girls to beat themselves up trying to look a certain way because i think all are beautiful. not that you care.0 -
Sometimes I am frustrated by store mannequins because the less than normal proportions make clothes shopping more difficult. I think, "Oh, that looks nice," try it on and it looks nothing like what is on the mannequin. The last time I went dress shopping I was getting very discouraged that nothing fit "right"- as in how it looked on the display. Then I took a good, long look at the mannequin and realized the width from belly to spine was ridiculously thin. Very aggravating!! There was no way anyone was going to look like that in the dress unless they were severely underweight or missing large amounts of internal organs.0
