Hi everyone!
How is everyone doing? I just wanted to introduce myself, and am excited about joining myfitnesspal. I find a lot of other communities have fat shaming tendencies but when I read through the posts here it made me feel good about this forum. I strongly disagree with stigmatizng, hypervisibilizing and shaming those of us who are "underweight" or "overweight."
Anyways, with that said, I have never been what is called "overweight" (and I find BMI to be a bad indicator of these things.) I was around 135-140 most of my life and then in my undergraduate one year I got a free membership at a gym for the summer (won a contest.) I worked a little too hard on the elliptical where my weight went down to 115 with no muscle gain. I really felt it and tried my best to gain some weight back and was around 120 for a while.
I moved back home to do my masters and started gaining weight again, not too much as I am 135 now but I found I could not fit in to my 120 pound clothes! I want to gain more muscle mass, and generally increase my endurance.
Looking forward to getting to know some of you.
