Breathless Body Amy Dixon

Hi peeps!

I am really new here, but I have been doing this workout recently and wanted to to recommend it!! It is amazing, and I consider myself intermediate but the Level One can definitely be done by beginners or those of us (like me) who suffer from back/sciatic nerve issues.

I have never sweat so much before, like literally buckets, usually feel like someone tossed a bucket on me in the end. It is a HIIT DVD based on Tabata (sp?) Amy is a great instructor! She does the whole workout with you, doesn't go around fixing forms or yelling in people's faces. I do this alongside BBL and Physique 57. (I try to cover for BBL's cardio which doesn't do much for me and bum bum.)

I really recommend it. Has anyone done Breathless Body 2??? Is it more challenging? I eventually will want to make a switch week to week (maybe) or just move in to number 2.

Other workouts I have done are JM 30DS, Ripped in 30, a bunch of fitness blender youtube series (still love doing them.) I am not a big fan of JM, maybe what I find her obnoxious nature but also they never did much for me.

I also just started doing this workout and love it. It's not an "everyday" type of workout but does it pack a punch! I also have done (and still do) many Jillian workouts but this one gets my heart rate pumping more and she is so encouraging.

I looked at her second "breathless" workout, The Edge and like this one better, the setup is different with that one, longer segments, longer rest, more exercises to keep it varied, but the waiting for her to explain each one takes a while..reviews say you have to keep moving.

This is the first workout I really had to keep a towel handy. She somehow makes you enjoy most of it though. I change the lunge to another exercise (stole from preview of her other tabata dvd) because I have knee issues with them and another I do a slightly different version, since level 1 is too easy and level 2, hard. I've read reviews where after months of doing it, many used it for timing and changed exercises but followed her motivating words to get them through.

I have done JIllian's 30DS (can't get my HR up with it much anymore) Banish Fat Boost Metabolism (love it) Biggest Loser Last Chance workout (a fav) Tony Horton Power 90 cardio 3/4 and No More Trouble Zones and Susan Chung's Rapid Fire.

Sometimes you find a hidden gem for you among the thousands of DVD's, everyone is different, but this was a keeper.

Thank you for your response Debraran! Yup, agreed, it is definitely not an everyday, and I use it 1-2/week where I am able to get more cardio in. Otherwise I have other cardio DVD's. I didn't get much results or soreness from any of JM's DVDs, I worked with a trainer to fix my form (and I think I have pretty good form) so i know that wasn't it. I will check out Susan Chung and some of the others you mentioned, have been hearing about The Biggest Loser a lot.

Right now with Amy Dixon, I am doing BBL and Physique 57 and other cardio videos. I love physique 57, really challenges your flexibility and gives an amazing burn especially for the lower body, of course it is barre method so perfecting form takes some time and actually catching on to the complex moves.

I will check Breathless Body 2 in the future maybe, but maybe just wait for the third one that is coming out as well soon. I can also see how you can use Amy's formula and add your own moves. I also want to try p90 (the one before p90x I believe?)

She's coming out with a new one? That's nice...will have to check it out. Do you know when?

I do Power 90 the second DVD which you can buy separately now. I think at your level, you would find the level 1/2 easy...same exercises but less of them. It's only about 5.00 on Amazon. I like the ab200 he tacks on the end..200 ab crunches doing different moves.
I didn't like his sculpt which was part of the package so I was glad to see they separated them.

I will also check out the DVD's you mentioned, always looking for new blood to keep the rotation fresh. Now off to do Amy after a day off from exercise...should be rested. :( I hope) : )
  • I actually got Power 90 master series off the neighbour, so if that is too hard I will go down to power 90, but hey! I didn't have to pay for it. Good luck, do you mind if I add you as a friend? Also I saw on her facebook that she is filming it and she said it will be out soon, so let's see.

Sure, the more motivation the better. I was going to order the Masters 5/6...from what I can see on you tube, it's different enough. Let me know how you like it.
I just found her FB..she is making a kettleball (never did that) and a new tabata.

She is so encouraging and has a great background in exercise. I'm checking out her other DVD's on collagevideo.com. I like that site because you can see clips of the exercises but Amazon is usually cheaper.
  • Yup, I like that site too! I saw her kettle ball one, but have never exercised with one....so unsure but def. willing to! I will let you know how it is on your profile, I am excited to try it. Yea, she is very encouraging, she answered my fb post a while back. Let me know if you switch anything up. I am actually using this one site's schedule for P90 Master Series, my neighbour just gave it to me, he said it came with no schedule.
