Extremely Sore Heel

When I bought my running shoes I went to a specialist who did various tests, filmed me running and recommended neutral running shoes. I got them about 18 - 20 months ago. They have not seen much action over the past 12 months, but I have started running again on the treadmill over the past month. I'm up to 8km an hour and for the moment cap it there. This I do 3-4 times a week.
The problem is that my right heel is extremely sore, you know the earth-pad bit. It feels bruised and I cannot stand on it first thing in the morning.
Does anyone know what could be causing this?
