Getting the job - what have you done?

So I've recently applied for a dream job, which I've never ever thought would exist. It excites me and I've never felt there was a place I more belong. I wrote a witty and passionate cover letter with more about why I want this career and why this agency, and sent it along with my resume, so now we wait.

I feel like I'll do anything to get a job here, so I was wondering what sort of bold moves you've done for a cause like this? I intend to be pretty hard to ignore.

I think the best "bold" move doesn't really seem ALL that unusually bold.

At the end of the interview, look your interviewer(s) in the eye and say in a strong, confident and earnest voice while standing in front of them, "I really want to work for X Company" or "I am VERY interested in this position".

You could phrase it any way you like, but one way I also like is "I know there are other applicants to consider, but I feel this sounds like a great fit for me. I am extremely eager to join your team".

My friends/family all say I have an absolute talent for getting jobs I want! This has worked very well for me.

Also, I think (when I've been on the interviewer side of things) too many people interview well and then just slink out awkwardly at the end like a whipped pup. It makes a great impression to end on a strong & confident note and sound positive.

Definitely email back after a week or so and follow up.

    Good idea.

I stand by my other advice above, but I apologize...for some reason I was thinking the OP already had an interview scheduled. Hopefully that will happen soon, though!!

Heh, no interview yet no, just sent out the resume.

A friend was telling me how she had been unemployed for such a long time that she just got fed up and followed up with "I'm coming in for an interview on this day, be ready for me", sent it several times, and then showed up on that day. She interviewed, didn't hear anything even though the position wasn't filled, so she showed up one day and said that she might as well do the work. She showed up for another couple weeks and eventually they said that they might as well just hire her.

I'm fed up in my job and I will do any amount nagging, gift baskets, e-mails, visits, etc. to be in this agency. But yes, I'll start with asking if he read over it next week and hope for the best :P

Still love hearing what people will do though! Thanks for all the tips!
