When life is a roller-coaster...I eat

Hello everyone.
Ever feel like there is no time left for "ME"?
I am a 55 yr old LPN working in a Palliative Care Unit. I have been doing shift work for 37 years. I have aging parents (80 and 86) who live close by and need my assistance more and more, as well I have a brother with Down's who lives with my parents and works five days a week. My hubby also works shift work. There are not enough days in the week to get everything done for everyone....and I always leave myself to the last. Food and eating is not a thing of pleasure and relaxation....I scoff things down and rarely sit at the kitchen table. Even at work we grab a few minutes and gobble down our meal behind the nurses desk. Lately I find with increased stress the pounds have piled on and now I am at my biggest ever.
Looking for some friends who are "in the same boat" for support and motivation.

    Hey girl!

    I'm a nurse as well. :)

It seems like you have tons going on right now. I used to do different shifts. I also gained an extremely unhealthy amount of weight while I was working at that facility. I would down 2 liters of diet coke easily during night shift and the vending machine was my BFF. It was like I had to have some sort of food going into my mouth constantly to stay awake and focus on work. In April I was asked to go full time at my day shift job. That was the push I needed to get back on a "normal & healthy" schedule. Now that my days and nights aren't mixed up I am able to have some sort of schedule.

Nursing is stressful enough. I don't know how you're handling it plus all the other things going on in your life. Good for you for trying to make your own health one of your priorities. This fitness stuff is tough, but I know we'll make it!
