I asked this when I first started as well and the answer I got is that MFP sets Protein particularly low. As long as you aren't going bananas with protein it shouldn't be an issue (some sites such as "If It Fits Your Macro's go with a base 1 gr of Protein per lb of body weight)
Protein helps you feel full so enjoy :-)0 -
Thank you for your fast reply xx0

The protein and fat goals should be taken as minimums. Going over is fine. As previously stated, MFP underestimates. The values I usually see are 0.85g protein per lbs lean body mass and 0.35g fat per lbs lean body mass. 1g protein per lbs bodyweight is more for people looking to build muscle by eating at a surplus.0

Yep, the protein goal is just a minimum. And it's a very low minimum at that. You should shoot to eat more.0

Look at protein as a minimum, not a limit.0

That's good to hear, I'm always over on my protein.0

Yep! I always aim for as much protein as I can get!0

Wow. I have a hard time getting enough.0

I changed my goals to 40% carb, 30% protein and 30% fat because I knew the numbers set by MFP were too low for protein (the total calorie goal remains the same). It basically doubled my protein macro to 113 grams which is close to 1 gram per pound of lean body mass.
