I'm 5'5 and weigh 130 pounds. I'm at my ideal weight and now would like to focus on my lower body with lifting. But as a beginner, how would I know how much to lift?

Start light then increase, do what feels comfortable. especially if you dont have much experience, if you max out and have poor form you could hurt yourself. When I go heavy I am struggling to get a set of 5, when I am lighter I start feeling the burn around 10.

As much as you can to struggle with the last few reps. More importantly start low and work form. Once form is good than slowly add more so you dont hurt yourself.
