Fussy Eater

So i'm really fussy when it comes down to food. What is the best foods to eat and best way to prepare them (I.E grill, roast, fry, steam etc) to help me lose weight? I want to make sure that i continue to the right balance of protein, iron, fiber etc. This is to go along with the exercise that i will be doing throughout the week.

It's difficult to answer this question since you don't say what you like and don't like. What is it you're fussy about.
As far as how to cook your meal, I suppose grilling, sauteeing, baking, steaming and braising is better than deep frying but as long as you stay within your caloric goal, it's all good.

I'm not really a fan of some vegetables or things you would put into salads. I want to try and incorporate these things into what i eat because i want to start eating healthy and properly rather than just sticking to what i know and like. Also i want to widen the variety of things i eat. Also with trying new ways of preparing food this could help me to maybe enjoy these foods

I prefer to steam vegetables. It retains their nutrients better and they keep a nicer texture than when boiled. :flowerforyou:

Only way to do that is just cook & eat fussy or not. You want to get onto eating them? Well then you got to just do it.

Not being a fan of some vegetables I wouldn't really call fussy. There's hope for you yet.

Veggies are easy to get in, you could make soups (all vegetables I dislike taste good when blended, for some reason), you could also incorporate them into your main meals - I add peppers to things like curries, carrots to spag bol, peas to shepherds pie, etc, It bulks them out, it makes it easier to get your 5 a day and it disguises the taste if you aren't keen.

You'd also be surprised how many things actually contribute to your 5 a day, baked beans for one (although they are high on the sodium), half a can of chopped tomatoes is also one, and I use one of them for almost every meal base.
  • Thanks for the tips people. I will certainly take all advice and help on board.

I really like my veggies baked/broiled. I was never a fan of brussel sprouts because my mom always boiled them, turns out I love them baked. I throw veggies into just about everything, My housemates are "fussy" too, so I've had to get creative. I put veggies in lasagna, soups, mac n' cheese, etc. I used to work in a home and to get the people there to eat their veggies I would food process some broccoli and carrots together and hide it in the meatloaf, they were none the wiser. There are tons of ways to eat your veggies without having a salad. Try adding some to foods that you already enjoy and browse vegetarian recipes to see what appeals to you.
