I've been swimming the last 8 months and started crosstraining 6 weeks ago , treadmill and weights . I noticed in the shower I have a hernia and am afraid to keep lifting .. I'm really disappointed I was starting to see progress with the weights . I don't think I can even do upper body because I tense my abs when I lift .

I was doing 3 sets of 10 reps on most of the machines at 24 hr. fitness , took about 2 hrs. and not too heavy 3 times a week

any suggestions besides see a Dr. ?

Nope, you'd have to see a doc :) I have a hernia there that doesn't do a thing and I do lift. But you have to get a doc to check it out because some need surgery pretty much ASAP.

They can be completely asymptomatic and more like a curiosity, so I can see why folks don't always run to get them checked out. Mine is probably just fat that poked through, as a matter of fact. No pain, etc.

Still, you have to get it checked out. You just do.
