Dr. Mosley's video is the one that got my family to get up and start doing something. Prior to that, for years, I had failed to pursuade my family members.

However, we do not follow the 5:2 method. For us, the IF method that works best is the "8-hour diet." (or some variation thereof, depending on which family member you consider).

sounds good, Dr. Fung in Part 4 of this series explains the benefit of fasting it doesn't interfere with the metabolic rate in part 1 he explains why regular calorie deficient diets fail for the majority of people, it has to do with the body adjusting for lower calorie intake and hunger hormones increased.

thanks for the link we will save it for our favorites

My buddy was upset when he found out those calorie deficient diets not only don't work in the long run but people lose muscle and bone, not so good for people with arthitis,

this is part 4 of his series on fasting a solution

5:2 fasting *is* a caloric deficit.

it is , but fasting does not cause the body to react as ongoing calorie deficity,
It has something to do with our genetics.

It has to do with adaptive thermogenesis. And the 5:2 plan does work for those who can handle the low intake days. I just prefer a daily deficit coupled with high protein and heavy lifting, it's a much easier method to get the same results. I've experienced no reduction in my my metabolic rate over the past 3 months of doing this. Lots of people have the same experience.

Blame the lack of punctuation. I saw the thread title and thought "Yes! I'm going to live forever!".

Eating fast is a lot more fun than fasting. I'm out.

Just finished OP's vid --- great piece!

I'll watch Dr. Fung lectures later this week, looking forward to it. :)

I liked the stuff about CR leading to decrease in IGF-1, but was bummed to hear about limiting protein being part of the package deal ... I need to do more reading up on that aspect, it's news to me and I've been an IF fan for a while.
    Is this what PSMF addresses?
