Running Fever.... WELL CR*P

I knew I didn't feel very good today and when I got home I checked my temp and it's 100.9. What do you do about your food selections when you feel like *kitten*?

  • The old adage about starving a fever always seems to work for me. Always get a craving for campbells chicken noodle soup when I have a fever.
  • that's EXACTLY what I was looking at but O.M.G. the sodium :noway:

I thought you meant you had running fever, like you loved running . . . actually running a fever is not as good. Just eat what you want, take it easy. Hope you feel better soon.

you mean to counter-act the sodium?

Do what makes you feel better. I don't concern myself with sodium when I'm sick, otherwise I'd never have soup/broth again.

When you are sick, you should eat to get well. Eliminate calorie deficits, and if anything eat at a slight surplus. Give your body what it needs to fight the illness.

And the whole 'starve a fever thing' is at best completely unrelated to food, and at worst complete rot.
  • just wish I was hungry :ohwell:

Campbell's does make lower sodium soups.

lol yeah but I don't have those in my pantry. I just ate a turkey wrap to get something in me.

If your not hungry, don't worry about. Just make sure you stay hydrated. The theory behind starving a fever is that it lets your body devote more resources to your imune system rather then your digestive system.

Obviously it should not be taken to the extreme, you still need some sort of food, just eat when your hungry, your body will tell you what it needs.
