7 Months Later Down 71 Pounds

So I wanted to share my progress so far. I started back in February after seeing a picture of me and my grandmother's birthday party.

I was horrified and embarrassed. I was 23 and had just hit 310 lbs for the first time. (Feb 2013) My previous high was 286, and I had lost about 30 pounds and eventually got back down into the 250s, before rebounding to my new high of 310.

I live at home with my parents, as I am currently attending nursing school. I think the catalyst for the majority of my weight gain and ultimate high of 310, was originally not getting accepted into nursing school. That point was an all time low for me, and so there I was sitting at home eating. Six months later I got accepted into nursing school (Jan 2013). This recent success kind of "woke me" out of my food coma, and brought me back to the world of the living I would suppose. A month later was my the birthday party I spoke of earlier.

At the same time a coworker of my dads died at 38 of diabetic complications, and his doctor was warning him that the same thing was going to happen to him, as his diabetes was out of control as well. I think it scared him enough to actually try to loose some weight. When my mom realized that he was about 10 lbs away from being lighter than her she jumped on the band wagon as well. Dad SW 243, Mom SW 233. And of course the reality of being 100 lbs heavier than your parents is just shocking. Granted I am taller than both of them, but it became clear to me really how bad it had gotten. Since I had a pretty good idea of what I should be eating, and knew of some healthier alternatives I began to help with meal prep and planning. Every time I had tried to loose weight before, my parents had been supportive, but they always kept eating the same old bad crap right in front of me, day in and day out. I would do good for a couple of months, but I would eventually rejoin their eating ways and would regain the weight. This time since we were all doing it together I figured I might be able to be successful, and there was no reason for me to wait until I had my degree and was moved out to start.

So I have been meticulous about hitting my calorie goals everyday, and here I am. I have been exercising as well but the majority of my success has been due to consistent eating and limiting alcohol.

So here I am today, down from 310 to 239. My first really big goal weight is 175. I haven't been under 220 since probably middle school.
