Water induced thermogenesis

After reading the MFP blog this week, I decided to look further.

    Interesting article. And while the end result was consuming 2 liters of water per day would burn off just over 2 kg in a year, it does bring up the question of the increased metabolism. Does this mean that you should eat/exercise 30 minutes after drinking water?

    Well, the study (assuming I read it correctly) says *adding* 1.5L of water to your daily consumption should result in an increase of approximately 2.4Kg per year of fat burned. I wish they had included a wider range of test subjects, perhaps in multiple groups.

    I don't think there is anything in the study to indicate that eating or exercising 30 minutes after drinking water will result in an added benefit. I think the take-away here is simply to drink a lot of water every day. I think we all knew that already, but it is nice to see a study done that helps explain *why* this is so effective.
