Weight loss stalled?

I've been consistently eating 1200-1300ish calories every day, while running and walking a few times a week, which burns about 200 calories. I make sure to create a calorie deficit of 400-500 every single day. For 2-3 months, I was consistently losing weight (about 25+ lb), but in the last three weeks, I've come to a screeching halt. And I can't be building muscle, because I havent been weight training. And I haven't lost any inches, either. Is my metabolism getting lower? Or am I not eating enough?

Did you stop weight training (and thus burning extra calories)? Sure, muscle will cause the numbers to dip slower, but that does not mean you can drop it without an effect in numbers. And how long have you been stalled? For most, the lower the weight, the more it comes off in spurts as opposed to linear loss. Wait a few weeks before resorting to more intense/extreme measures.

first guess is that you're not eating enough.

ETA: second guess... at 19 and active... definitely not eating enough.

At 5'3" and 109 pounds perhaps your body is where it wants to be weight wise. If you are not happy how it looks, pick up some weights and start weight training.
  • No, I never weight trained to begin with.

So by your ticker on your page, it looks like you're at, or nearly at your goal. How much more do you want to lose? Or is it that you've hit "goal weight" but still have fat you'd like to see gone?

Determining my goal when I got to that point was key for me. It became more than just cutting cals or exercising to lose weight, I wanted my body to look a certain way, and had to then focus on the right amount of fuel as well as nutrition, and workouts.

Ran your numbers through a BMR calculator, and it gave me 1336 for your age, height and current weight - which means your daily intake of 1200-1300 cals is below your BMR. Could have something to do with the stall - your body doesn't want to give up anything else for lack of fuel.

Do you eat back exercise cals? If not, start. Even adding that extra 200 to your day can make a difference. And you might consider some form of resistance training - doesn't have to be heavy barbells or even dumbbells - you can do some great work with just body weight training.

With a bmi of 19 which you have you are at the low end of a healthy weight range. You probably should up your calories to a reasonable maintenance and focus on exercise that will get you the body look you're after
