I KNEW THE TITLE WOULD GET YOU TO OPEN THIS THREAD. Push-ups rock. I was just tricking you experts. It worked too.
I hate to sound inexperienced but hey....whatever.
I was wondering if you could please tell me what the difference is between standard, wide and diamond type push-ups in terms of where it works the chest and etc....?
Thanks

I wouldn't say they're useless, but they're a bit over-used.
All pushups work chest, triceps, and front shoulders.
Wide pushups - a bit more chest & less triceps than standard
Diamond pushup - less chest and a lot more triceps. Some biceps too0 -
Do several sets to failure in one position. See where it hurts during the exercise and the next day.
Repeat in a couple days with a different position.0 -
But push up bras are useful...0

Push ups are amazing not only do they build muscles in your chest, back, and shoulders they also help with core stability and strenght (think 6 pack here) and work the glutes and quads!
Close grip push ups are for shoulders and tri's
neutral push ups work the back, chest and delts
Wider push ups engage all of the above listed muscle groups
They hurt and they are hard but they make for a great workout!0 -

Cherimoose put it just right.
All I would add is to aim to align your diamond push-ups so your elbows still brush your ribs as you pushup and go back down so that you maintain correct alignment and safeguard your elbow joints from winging out.
Make the exercise more challenging by elevating your feet. Loads of variations with increasing intensity to keep building strength.
You are right; push-ups are awesome.0 -
