Winning the Battle of the Mind - Discuss

Some of the things I have learned while being on my weight loss program is the value of more positive self talk.

What kind of affirmations, intentions, or self-imposed "rules" help you get through your temptations and encourage you to reach your goal?

"It's not getting easier, I'm getting stronger." Been thinking this while doing the 30 day shred...
  • I try to visualize my future self...what I would be wearing or doing..that gives me motivation and it's easier to say no to foods that are just plain unhealthy.

When I am working out I think about how 6 months ago I could barely walk - lol, now I can do some crazy things/exercises I never dreamed of. I also tell myself: I am worth fighting for! I learned that from Jillian Michaels.

I take a day at a time and remind myself this is not a diet it has to be a lifestyle change.

If attending an event, I decide before hand what I will and won't eat so the decision is already made before I face the temptation.

I also tell myself "I am stronger than that hill" when exercising or "I am stronger than that cookie".
  • I have lists of goals achieved, short blurbs of how I envision my fitness improving given aspects of my life, and a pinterest page that I basically wear out and read all the time.

I read it daily I think, and it definitely helps keep my mind focused on my goals.
