This is truely a first for me. I have never been on an "official diet". In college I gained about 40lbs (99lbs-140lbs) my first year. It took the next 3 years to work it off. Of course it wasn't intentional. I didn't say, "hey lets eat less and loose weight" I just moved out the dorms and started cooking my own food. Problem solved. I maintained a weight of 118 from then till I reached 30 and gained 10lbs. For the last few years I have concentrated on the quality of food but that means nothing if you are not changing other things like quantity. Since then I haven't budged from 128 but I don't want to reach 40 and gain another 10. I need to break that cycle.

Enter the Leather Pants.

I bought them in a size 8 bc I wear a 6 and they said to order one size up. I took them to a tailer cause they didn't fit and after $150 they still don't fit because I gained a few more inches on my waistline. Now the last time I wore size 10 was in College. I do not want to do that again. THESE PANTS NEED TO FIT.

That's my inspiration. Leather pants. Counting calories for the first time ever. BTW, I do not do fast food restaurant, minimal to no processed foods, always organic and have been on a low sodium diet since my dad changed to one. I have been on that diet for over a year now and hopefully with the decreased calories and adding more than soccer and yoga to my exercise routine, I'll loose the 8 little lbs and a few inches off my waist and butt.

These boards are great too because I have gotten some great tips and ideas from everyone, not including the amazing inspiriation to keep this healthy quest going for as long as I live. Thanks.

Might as well learn how to manage your weight now, since it won't get any easier. I, too, had no major problems until I was about 35, and suddenly, just being reasonable didn't work!

The good news is this does!! Follow the calories reccommended, and log EVERYTHING, and it will work. I'm down about 33 lbs. I guess I'll count calories for the rest of my life. But knowledge is power! And this website gives you the calorie facts to make it work.
  • Thanks! I have been on since Sunday and I love the nutrient log. It's helped me make better choices about the food and drink. My diet hasn't changed too awful much so I have a good feeling about this. Of course to me success will be more about inches than pounds. And more about how healthy I feel than either of those things.

Thanks so much I just love the supportive attitude of everyone on here.
