Exercise and weight loss

As a competitive cyclist, I am trying to lose 15 lbs and gain about 80 watts of power. This takes intensive training, burning on average 2,000 calories per day on the bike.
I need 1,700 calories without exercise, so adding the 2,000 makes this 3,700. If I am short on intake between 1,000 and 500 per day, is this bad?

That will help with your weight loss, but if done very often will likely hurt your training.
Generally speaking, I'd try to avoid it as much as possible.0
