YAY!! That is great! My dad stopped smoking cold-turkey after 35 years!! If he can do it, you can do it!! My dad is a HUGE complainer so imagine what I was going through!!

What helped him was the twizzlers!! :oP Find something else to do with your hands.... that is the habit to break!! haha

thanks you all for yous support this is going to be hard but best.

they say its best to quit cold turkey bc than it only takes 3 days for nicotine to leave your system!!!

so heres to the hardest 3 days of my life.

and they say when you quit smoking you gain weight so im going to have to have sooooooooo much control from now on.:grumble:

Congratulations on your decision. It's hard, but stick with it and the rewards will be far greater than the sacrifice.

    Awesome!

I smoked for 5 years and tried several times to quit but never really put my heart into it. This year on my birthday I decided it was the best present I could give myself. It's been 23 days and it's getting easier and easier. Well, except when I drink... Stick with it! It's soo worth it!

ps - the people who gain weight after quitting are the ones who get bored and frustrated and turn to food... but if you turn it around and start exercising and realize how much better your lungs start to feel, I bet you won't have a problem. I didn't. But it is soooo hard when I pass my someone else smoking. My mouth actually waters. It's disgusting. :noway:

That's wonderful! The best of luck to you. Several years ago I stayed the night at my sister's house and she got up in the morning and went to the bathroom and just coughed and hacked and coughed on and on and on. It was horrible to listen to her cough like she was about to cough up both lungs. Again the best of luck to you. Keep us informed of your progress so we can keep cheering you on. :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:

Here's something I read from the book "Skiny Bi**H". IT's a pretty funny and straight to the point book, but I thought you might enjoy a bit of humor this morning

"Ok, Use your head, you need to get healthy if you want to be skiny. Healthy=skiny. Unhealthy = Fat.
The first thing you need to do is give up your gross vices. Don't act surprized! you can not keep eating the same *kitten* and expect to get skiny. Or smoke. So don't even try some pathetic excuse like "But if I quit somking, I'll gain weight." No one wants to hear it. Cigarettes are for losers. They are so 1989 and totally uncool. Not only do they screw up your whole body chemisrty, but they also kill your taste buds, It no wonder you eat *kitten* and garbage. Smoking's out. Give it up."

I told you it was straight forward, hope you found the humor in it too. That is the first paragraph of the whole book too! I gave up smoking years ago, I was very lucky and had an easy time with it. My tricks were to chew gum during the times I would smoke. I know it sounds simple, but hey it worked for me and it's been 12 years smoke free for me!

Best of luck to you, you can TOTALLY do it!:drinker:

good luck~ overcoming any addiction is really hard, but take it one smoke at a time. and don't beat yourself up about slipping up every now and then. just forgive yourself and keep going. it's defitely a change for the better!

I'm not a smoker so I don't know but I'll bump this and maybe someone else can help you. Good luck. Don't give in to the temptation.

Some of the advice I was given when I was craving a cigarette was to do something like crunches until the craving passed. Kill two birds with one stone so to speak. Clean something was my favorite! I can't tell you how clean my fridge was during that time! Keep it up it will get better!:flowerforyou:

Definitely clean something or exercise. Both of these will help you thru the craving.
