Reached my ultimate weight goal!

I am 5'2. Freshman year of high school, i weighed 125. I felt 'fat' compared to most girls. By the time i graduated, i weighed 145lbs. I felt even worse about myself. When I got pregnant a year after graduation (aug of 2011) I weighed 155.

My son was born april of 2012, 6 weeks early. I gained 43lbs in those 34wks that I was pregnant. I delivered at 198lbs even. Between stress-eating and having to eat high calories to keep up with breastfeeding and pumping for a premature infant's feeding tube, i was LUCKILY maintaining my weight, but still weighed 180 at my 6wk checkup.

fast forward, my son is almost 9 months old and I weigh myself. 180. Same as i weighed when i left the hospital! Time to do something about it. Join MFP, slowly reduce calories as he started to take in more solids so i won't mess with his weight gain.

Today, I have a happy, healthy (although tiny because he was a preemie :P) 17 month old, and I am back to the weight I was in my freshman year of high school. I lost 55lbs in 9 1/2 months! I don't know HOW I felt fat at 125 then, because I feel skinny now! I feel amazing about my new body :) I wish I had full body pics to share, but I wouldn't let people take my photo before >.>

Now, to enjoy this new body for a few months before I end up pregnant and starting the weight loss all over again :P

  • Awww,,, congratulations!! That is inspiring, I am currently changing my eating habbits to low cholesterol and low sodium diet. Im doing good with the low cholesterol but the low sodium is very hard. Everything has sodium in it. Iam also using MFP. It is a wonderful site. I think your pics look great, thanks for sharing your story. I get discouraged when I dont see wt loss qucker, so I have to keep reminding myself I am changing my lifestyle of eating and it takes the body awhile to catch up. But 9 and 1/2 months to reach your goal weight is awesome! It's a short time compared to being obese for 10 years. I feel encouraged, thank you and again Congrats to you and your growing family!

I did my best to lose it slowly so my son wouldn't be effected :) My goal was to be pre pregnancy by his first birthday (155lbs) and i hit that the week before he turned 1, so i lost 25lbs in about 3 months.. but the first month i lost a ton bc of water weight. Then i lost the other 30 over a good 6 months bc i had to find that perfect balance where he still gained and I still lost. Once i found the right calories for that, it was smooth sailing!

I now have to find the sweet spot again where I maintain my weight while eating enough cals for nursing!
