I've lost 8ibs in 4 days, was it all water?

I weighed myself on Sunday morning and discovered I weighed 10st 4 ib so decided to lose some weight. I had been pretty naughty lately, drinking a couple of glasses of wine every night and eating pretty much whatever and whenever I felt like it. I have an underactive thyroid and although I am medicated it is so easy to blame that when the scales go up, so I decided enough was enough! I wasn't doing any exercise apart from walking to and from school twice a day, about a 10 minute walk each way. I'm an artist so spend a lot of the day sat down at my desk when I'm not playing with my 2 year old.
So since Sunday morning I've been calorie counting, I've been having wholegrain cereal with nuts and milk every morning, which at 537 cal is quite a lot but I thought it was important to keep the whole grains in my diet and start the day with a full stomach! For lunch I've been alternating between a small baked potato with 15g of cheese, or a couple of boiled eggs and a bit of salad (no dressing) and for tea a weight watchers 350 cal meal, plus a few cups of tea throughout the day, plenty of water to drink and apples or grapes for snacks. I'm averaging about 1300 cals a day and haven't found it too difficult at all. For exercise I've been doing 20 minutes of step aerobics and 10 mins of jogging on Wii fit.
Does what I'm doing sound like a good diet plan? I don't think I'm missing out any of the food groups, and the weight does seem to be coming off fairly quickly. Ideally I would like to get down to 9st so I have 10 more ibs to lose, I'm 5ft 5.5. I have been needing to pee a lot though, but I'm guessing that's just my body getting rid of excess water and I'm hoping that will slow down as I carry on with this.

Hi
It would be good if we can see your food diary in order to help you better.
in order to lose body weight, you have to eat at a deficit.
good luck in your journey0 -
8 lbs in 4 days was mostly water but now that's out of the way you can start to see some real losses. It won't be as quick though!0

I agree, much of the weight loss would have been water and some weight would have been stomach contents from over eating and the adjustment to a new in take/diet… It’s true, to get a better idea we should see your food diary, but one thing that comes straight to mind is that an increase of salads there will be an increase of water due to the content in the salad. You say your averaging 1300 cals, is that your set up needs to lose weight? You could be trying to hard ( too bigger cal lose ) which could lead to additional health issues… Lose will balance out in a short while so stay focused on your health…. Take care….0

It appears that water retention, waste, and added glycogen storage after increasing calorie intake a few days can add some brief pounds that go rather quickly.0

Thanks for the replies, I have added the last 5 days food and updated my settings so my food diary is viewable. I had actually overestimated the calories I was having according to this site. I can definitely see a difference though as I've lost weight from my stomach and thighs, I know it won't continue to come off at this rate but it is certainly encouraging!0
