I need help

For the last year I've been stuck at 190 - 196. It's bounced up and down. I started in 2011 and lost 40 pounds very easily. My starting weight was 236, I'm at 194 right now. I've maintained it well and all, but I want to continue dropping. I'm going to fix my bike soon, do you think that will help me out with being stuck? I used to ride it back then every night no matter what. but the wheel is bent, and I haven't rode it since we moved last year.

Needless to say there are a lot of determining factors for whether people gain or loose or maintain. The great thing about MFP is that when you are actively logging foods and activity, you will (or should) be able to see where the 'problem' might be.

If you are maintaining now, then the addition of some good cardio such as biking would presumably help you start loosing again quite quickly.

Biking could help but weight loss is about 80% eating at a calorie deficit and 20% exercise. So your primary goal should be to make sure you're logging your food consistently and honestly. Weigh and measure everything, check the information on MFP food database against food labels to make sure it's accurate, etc.

You also need to make sure your daily goal is as accurate and realistic as possible. With the amount of weight you have to lose, a 1 pound per week goal would be appropriate. Also, make sure you eat most of your burned calories.

Circuit training and.keep changing your routine. Throw in a few high carb days in there. Keep the body guessing!
