I made an appointment for a free consultation with a physician practicing in a nearby town that specializes in weight loss. Boy I didnt know what I was in for! First of all, when I met with the Dr., he barely had anything to say about his own program. He just kept telling me how I was going to lose so much weight so fast and how I am going to have to fight off the men. Um not a great selling point since I am happily married. He says that if it moves, you can eat it. If not, then no. So all meat, no carbs whatsoever. No vegetables, nothing. Severe ketosis diet. Then comes the phentermine - 30 mg SR daily, then 18.75mg up to 3 times a day, totalling to a whopping dose of 86.25 mg per day. Normally, doctors prescribe 15-30mg daily. He recommends this diet and medication "until you're 92, and after that, we dont care." He tells me that the side effects of too much phentermine are insomnia and tremors...um I am a veterinarian. Anyone signing up their pets for surgery with me and my tremors? Oh, and you take a multivitamin to keep your diet balanced :/

So I come out of the room and meet with the receptionists where she is expecting to take my $250 startup fee ($85 monthly after) and looks shocked when I hand her my script back. It doesnt take a rocket scientist to recognize healthy...and unhealthy. This just sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen!

OMG!!! WTH! I think I might think about reporting him as well. Obviously he is giving this script to less intelligent or more desperate people. It is not nice to prey on other people's ignorance...

Congratulations for being hype proof :) Normally I would refrain from labeling, but that plan is insane to be relayed from a specialist who considers it in the realm of his oath to provide care as his primary function. And lastly how can a multi vitamin balance an unbalanced dietary intake?

As I read that I was really hoping the happy ending was that you were smart enough to walk away! So glad you were!

Wow.. I'm all for low carb diets, but jeez, this sounds like a horrible idea.

How awful. Vegetables are a necessity! And I'm so sick of the low-carb hype. I've ost almost 40 lbs and I eat carbs. It's cause i eat the healthy ones.

Go low(er) carb. Skip the drugs for sure. Forget about paying for someone to tell you how. YOU CAN do it yourself!

Yay for common sense!!! It really makes me sad that there is a market for "Doctor's" like that in the first place.

I'm glad you made the right choice concerning this.

I have to say that when I read the 'if it moves eat it, if it doesn't no' my first thought was that if it's moving, there is no chance that I'm going to eat it. I like my food dead.
