Armour Thyroid Dosage

My Dr is going to have me start on Armour Thyroid at 30mg twice a day. I was on the phone with the Nurse and I asked about once a day and she said no, twice.

However, most of what I see in discussions and some online research is a single morning dose.

Anyone out there take it twice a day?

Also, I'm taking Mononessa. Anyone try getting off of Birth Control before starting thyroid meds to see if that helps? Just curious as I'm not thrilled at the idea of taking meds from now on.

I'm on Synthyroid, and only take my dose in the morning. I take 50mg and my levels have leveled off perfectly. I looked into Armour, however sometimes it's not available when they have a shortage since they get it from pigs. Good luck on your new dosage!

I think that the reasoning behind it should be discussed with your doctor. There may be a lot of factors that can play into the decision to give certain dosages and most people don't go into the details of their test results etc while discussing their own dosage.
