Finding the happy medium

Hi all!
I've been on MFP for about a year now. I enjoy being active, I live overseas. Life in the UK as an American can get pretty lonely at times but it is never boring. I've lost about 12 pounds since August, back down to a normal BMI. Currently I'd like to go down 10 pounds more and be super fit but I am feeling much better overall.
I think what I aim to achieve is learning to find that ideal weight where I can find great fitness and shape, comfortable maintenance of weight but not go overboard.
The last time I seriously dieted, I went way overboard into patterns of disordered eating. I had so little body fat I didn't have a cycle (the lady kind, not the bike. Ahem) I found life and food pretty miserable overall. I was very thin but felt deprived and depressed. I got help and gained some weight back. Then for years I kept a fitness regimen but was wary of dieting. In a way I sort of felt like because I was active, I could eat and booze freely. But that really isn't always the case, especially as one gets older.
Fast forward to my 30s, I suffered a back injury that made vigorous physical activity difficult. I moved to the UK, for a while I wasn't driving so I think I maintained weight OK by having to walk more. Then once I got a car I noticed I had put on some weight...oops.
So, now I'm back in the gym (one upside to having a car once again). It also helped that my husband caught his own fitness bug, and who was I to be outdone? Huff!. Long recovered from my back injury, fortunately I am able to get vigorous exercise in and loving it. As I said my goal has been to get super fit but not go overboard this time. The happy medium.
Blessings and good health to everyone!
